The Phantom Empire with Gene Autry Believe it or not, it's a science fiction film!
#A1079
This stars, of course, Gene Autry. The setting is the Radio Ranch, the base from which Gene Autry broadcasts his daily radio show. There are a few songs, horseback chases, and guns. Since this was produced around 1940, the science fiction is really hokey by today's standards, but was probably pretty true to the genre back then. In a nutshell, the Radio Ranch sits over the buried ancient city of Murania, which has a thriving population and technology in advance of earth's. Between the Muranians and dastardly surface scientists, can Gene avoind being captured by the Muranians? Can he foil the scientist's plot? If he can't do these things, he'll miss his two o'clock radio broadcast and lose his show.
