Dictionary of Spoken Russian
#A0930
The Dictionary of Spoken Russian differs somewhat from the average dictionary, for it is a dictionary of words only secondarily. The basic unit of communication is the phrase or sentence. The phrases and sentences are indexed by word entries. The Russian is coloquial speech of Moscow or Leningrad (now St. Petersburg). The English is general American coloquial.
This dictionary has an English-Russian side consisting of 4,000 common word entries, together with subentries (phrases and idions) and illustrative sentences. The Russian-English side consists of 7,000 word entries, with subentries and illustrative sentences. This dictionary contains too much more information to summarize here.
This "new" Dover edition first published in 1958 is an unabridged republication of the War Department Technical Manual TM30-944, Dictionary of Spoken Russian.
